October 6, 1918 -Vincent visits

Mary's brother Vincent visits today from New Jersey, finding the three sick family members and reporting that he had already recovered from being very sick with the flu.  According to family lore, Vincent had been working at Fort Dix in New Jersey, where there had been earlier outbreaks, and was probably responsible for transmitting the illness to family members.  However, the last notation in Mary's diary of a visit by Vincent was at his birthday celebration on September 14.  The first household member to get sick was Agnes and that was not until October 2 when Agnes became sick, an interval of over two weeks and very unlikely, therefore, that Vincent was the source.  Agnes first became sick just four days after the Fourth Liberty Loan Parade (although it is not know if Agnes attended it) when so many others in the city were also becoming sick.
