May 9, 1918 - Alec Marr

Today Mary goes to the movies with a couple friends and happens upon Alec Marr on Chestnut Street.  She is surprised to see him in uniform and mentions of her limited number of boyfriends, none are slackers.

Alec Marr is almost certainly Alexander Thomas Marr, who in 1910 was living with his family at 2630 West Lehigh Avenue, just a few blocks from where Mary and family were living at that time.  He continued to live in Philadelphia, at least through the 1940 census and is listed as a songwriter and/or musician from the 1920 through the 1940 census.  He was born September 17, 1898 and died in January 1969, buried in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania.
