Mary did not do much today, just wore her new hat on the first day of spring, and then was rained on.
Yesterday she wrote several letters. One was to "Uncle Thomas". Thomas was likely Thomas Meade, her mother's brother who lived in Delaware with his wife Annie. In the 1920 U.S. census Thomas was identified as a construction contractor. He died on Christmas day in 1930 after being struck by a motor vehicle. He was 65 years old.
