October 5, 1918 - Mary is sick

Today Mary "came home very sick."  Her two sisters and father seem to be a little better.  Mary goes to bed early.

The Philadelphia Inquirer again implicitly downplays the influenza epidemic, not having any articles until page 11, while the Evening Public Ledger on the front page proclaims: "Grip Breaks City's Death Record, 706 Mortalities out of 1191 in Week Due to Epidemic, 254 From Disease in Last 24 Hours, 1480 New Cases of Malady Reported to Health Bureau Since Yesterday".
