May 22, 1918 - Guy Empey and Over the Top

Today between work shifts Mary goes to see Guy Empey in the movie Over the Top.  He was born in 1883 and after previously serving in the U.S. Cavalry, in 1915 he voluntarily enlisted in the British Army.  He served on the Western Front, eventually being discharged after being wounded.

His 1917 book, Over the Top, was widely read and lead his movie and speaking career mostly during the war in favor of the war effort.  More details of Empey's life and career can be found at Wikipedia.
